The world has a lot of different standards for a lot of things, but I have never heard of a place with the default screw thread direction being opposite.

So does each language have a fun mnemonic?

I can easily imagine: "right is right left gets you / it left"

You can cover right/left with "right is the hand you write with, and left is the one that's left" and be good for 80%-95% of the population.
