You have broken out of the algorithmic chains that has tied up your attention and time to literal prolefeed. And it starts when you chose to abandon Reddit and go out of your way to join a Lemmy instance (often cited as the biggest barrier of entry: to choose an instance) so congrats! π

Yep, it was easy to signup but I'm on kbin.social. might have to donate some money to that guy for the free content

It's very low but a lot of people trip over the lowest of thresholds π
It's easy to register on an instance, the hard part is choosing one. "Which one is the right one to choose and commit to?" is a newbie question that honestly is often overthought. Choice paralysis is real for some people...
For me, there's only one good choice, sail free in the High Seas!
I joined lemmy.world, because thatβs the first one I came across. But now I can see the posts from many instances using voyager and Memmy. Now you can go and join any instance with interest you. Thatβs the beauty of it.
That should tell you something about how little effort people have put into understanding the Fediverse.

Same here! I'm posting this from my own instance which is not something I would have been remotely comfortable setting up before lemmy :)
Yeah it's been fun! I've set up self-hosting of several fediverse projects and have learned a lot.
