Erdogan has pledged to allow Sweden to join, according to Stoltenberg. This is big, it means that now Austria and Ireland are the only EU member states not part of NATO.

In addition, it means the entire Baltic Sea is now protected by NATO. This will be interesting, as it also makes it easier for Europe to fend against Russia.

What do you mean? St.Petersburg and Kaliningrad still exist.

Of course they do, but those are relatively small compared to the rest. Russia would be practically unable now to do anything in the Baltic waters now.
