I know people use them to find torrents but are they actually useful? I've always used kickass.

I have radar and sonarr set up on a seedbox. I tell them what TV and movies I want to watch and what indexers to search. When what I want is found on a tracker it shows up on the seedbox.

Mostly I just turn on the TV and new stuff is there to watch. I do occasional clean up but the proy is mostly automated

So basically it automates the process of searching for torrents. Does it let you select what torrents do you prefer, like format mp4/hevc, resolution, bitrate?

Yes, it can do that (and much more!)

Do you use jellyfin to stream from the seedbox?

[–] mmhmm@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

No, Plex. The provider I use has jellyfin as an option though. I've considered switching. Just need some free time to test and vet

Basically, you set them to continually search content on indexers. Of course, you can set preferences for quality, number of seeds, for how long to keep seeding, etc. Then combined with some databases, you select the artist or TV show you want to watch, then it automatically looks for and download episodes and albums for you. If new episodes show up in the databaea, it automatically downloads them. If better quality shows up, it updates it.

At the ends, you can consider it as a robot to keep looking for content for you.

You do the initial setup then you just open your streaming service like Jellyfin and watch or listen for content. Which gets auto updated.
