While more complicated than just that, it is true that Newey was against the current development direction of the car according to paddock rumours.
Yeah but didn't that same rumor state that he barely had any involvement in the '23 car that turned out to be one of the most dominant cars ever?
He was mostly working on the suspension if I remember right.
What I find interesting is that other teams (than McLaren and Red Bull) might actually start to help McLaren/Norris in the WDC race as it currently looks like other teams might steal more points from Red Bull rather than McLaren.
In the past you would say Max could make up those spots but not so much nowadays
