The US is a one party state, and you're not in it

Fuck, I'm not invited? I bought all this beer too...

Hand over the beer then leave

Nobody seems to recall how we got here, how this move was being pulled by the same people 4 years ago, except then it was begging for you to sympathize with the poor migrants being caged on the border. AOC even cried and got some beautiful PR photos made.

Now it's all secure the border and pass the Republican plan to lock it down and hand every subsequent president the button to immediately shut the border down at their discretion.

And however Israel escalates, however many Lebanese or Syrians or Palestinians or Iranians we kill defending them, no matter how high the bodies stack they will be back in 4 years telling you that if they don't win the human toll will be unspeakable.

Thought this was aneurysm shitposting for a second there.

What made you reassess?

Harris does not believe in or endorse homeless kicking, and she felt sad the whole time she did it, but kicking the homeless was bundled into a compromise border policy bill, so her hands were tied. I mean not literally tied: she was holding a truncheon.

That's right, we must not assume that past and current behavior is a predictor of future behavior. We should instead focus on what can be, unburdened by what has been!

Obama taught us to “look forward, not backward” to when “we tortured some folks.”

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 weeks ago

That's our secret, we're always torturing folk.

Schrödinger's Kamala - Both a cop and against cops depending on what the Republicans think will sucker the people at any given time.

I just love how desperate Russia is to bring the debate back to Palestine at every opportunity.

Because that's the most important genocide, not the one in Ukraine with 10x the casualties they caused that somehow ended up with THEM behind invaded.

What do you propose we do instead?

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Imagine acting like doing nazi shit is so natural and unavoidable that you believe that you can stump the opposition to nazism simply by challenging them to think of a way not to be fucking nazis.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Look you can obviously just vote the nazis out as Germans famously did in 1930s.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do what people in Bolivia did when they organized MAS movement. It's not like numerous examples of standing up to tyranny don't exist around the world or anything. Americans are acting just like Germans did when nazis took power. I guess makes sense given that nazis were heavily inspired by the US.

Sure, I'll bite.

What part of doing that is mutually exclusive with voting for Harris against project 2025? I'm not going to pretend electoral politics should be the be-all end-all of political participation. Yes, you should organize locally and look for opportunities to support socialist policies and leaders, but given that none of those are on the ballot, you should still use what little power electoral politics give you to try and push the system away from right-wing lunatics who have been very explicit about their plans to make everything socialists complain about significantly worse and to corrupt the democratic systems to try and make it even harder for socialists to take power in the future.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Organizing on the ground isn't mutually exclusive with voting. However, voting for a party that is actively engaged in a genocide does expose people as being morally bankrupt.
