Without providing evidence, Denis Pushilin, the separatist leader in Donetsk, accused Ukraine of preparing to attack the two regions soon – an accusation Kyiv said was false.

What a strange and unbelievable accusation. Why would Ukraine launch an attack while Russian troops are on combat readiness a few kilometres across the border?

The Russians are there in the first place because the Ukrainians have been shelling the Easterm regions since 2015, violating a ceasefire agreement. This has become more aggressive in the past couple of months. As to an invasion, I can not speak to that.
