Oh man Goose is awesome. If y'all are at all into jam bands or just general live improv stuff, highly recommend checking these guys out. They're all super tight players with great chemistry and a willingness to take risks creatively during jams.

It also helps that they record pretty much all their shows in super high quality with multiple camera angles, mix the audio within a few days of the show and put a lot of it out on YouTube for free. They've also got a CRAZY lighting setup that legitimately feels like an additional band member.

Seriously, go listen to them.

Thanks for posting this, it might just have turned me around on goose a bit.

One of the pitfalls of improv rock is ending up with 3-4 people setting up a groove so the guitarist can noodle for 20min. Honestly what I’ve listened to of goose, I kind of thought that was the whole thing.

But you can hear in this piece that they are all listening well and even though it is essentially a 20min guitar solo, he is constantly playing off ideas from the keys and bass.

Any other recommendations for goose stuff that strays even further from the “long solo” formula?

Well, that is some stuff right there. Grippo is so good, every 8 bars he’s pushing the theme to the next level. Nothing gets stale when that dude is on stage.

Thanks again. My concert card is pretty well booked this year but I could see myself buying a goose ticket at some point.
