It's a bit shame for Williams, they looked so promising through the practice. Still tho, Albon in Q3 is always quite the result

He was quicker than both Aston's. Imagine that happening at the start of the season!

Bonkers that Checo got out in Q1 again.

I think the more the car suits Verstappen the less it does Checo.

But he is so far off pace it's insane. He was 1,3 seconds slower than Max and they set times right after each other.

His race pace seems okay though... Seems to comeback to top 3 when starting back. Still disappointed he could not challenge max. Would of been great addition to all the racing in F1.5

At this point I'm wondering whether Perez has been going through serious personal stuff that we don't know about.

I'm just guessing here, but when HΓ€kkinen became a father, he said he lost his fearlessness that you need to compete at the top level. I know Checo already has children, but he has just had a fourth one, so maybe his mind his there a bit more? Combine that with Verstappens hyper domination that would easily crush all but the toughest minds. I have no idea whether he actually believed that he could challenge for the WDC after the first four races, so that might play a part, too? He has always had mid season slumps at Red Bull, but this one is turning out to be quite a big one...

Perez has been really unimpressive these last races. He should be able to at least qualify in the top 4, given that he has by far the best car available. But constantly failing to even reach Q2 is a joke.

At the same time props to McLaren, hopefully the updated car is as good as it looks also in the race.

Well done, Oscar! Do the green and gold proud

What explains the McLaren result? P2 and P3!? That’s tremendous from them. Both drivers just dialed in like crazy? Circuit really suits the car? Significant recent upgrades I didn’t hear about maybe?

[–] EyesEyesBaby@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Significant updates. Last week Lando drove with the upgrades and did really well. This week Oscar received the upgrades too.

Super stoked for Maclaren
