Oil depots are so hot right now

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 months ago

Even better; it's apparently diesel.

This apparently didn't work.

Did they try water? It doesn’t even necessarily have to be holy

Water on an oil fire is not the best idea. The burning oil will float on the water.

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 7 points 3 months ago

I wouldn't be surprised if they did that and that's why it's still going.

Yeah you’re supposed to use foam, right? Never heard of holy foam, unfortunately

Who would win?

Two buzzy bois

or

an oil depot with ~$200m of ~~crude oil~~ diesel fuel.

Is there really that much oil here? Ouch.

Seems like an estimate by the chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent of the WSJ. Also, it seems to actually be diesel fuel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That makes sense, refined products are obviously more expensive by volume.

Between 550,000 and 600,000 litres of diesel per tank, depending on the specific gravity of the fuel. Two and a half million dollars per tank, not including the lost revenue from having the site offline.

Just some quick maths for you all.

And none of it, along with so many more billions of dollars worth of economic impact - let alone the catastrophic humanitarian costs - had any reasonable need to occur. But you know... that all-consuming russian inferiority complex and cruelty, ignorance and alcoholism, corruption and ineptitude.
