The fact that they've bolted on "with Gemini" to every listing doesn't bode well.

Free for 1 year (~$240/yr afterward)

[–] FederatedSaint@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Bahahaha $240/yr is beyond ludicrous. They should be paying us to use it lol.

Yeah, I can't imagine any use for their "AI" that would make it worth $20/month.

Usually they don't bolt on "With [Feature]" to their phones though don't they? I wonder if they think the Pixel name alone isn't enough to sell it anymore.

To me, "with Gemini" further underscores big tech's complete obsession with everything AI. I don't really see it as a commentary on the phones themselves.

I got it yesterday because it will only cost a net $100 after trade in, and all I'm looking forward to is a fingerprint sensors that works and doesn't light up the entire room when you use it.

Is the camera in the regular 9 worse than the 7a?

[–] Vash63@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

No. The regular 9 has the same camera as the Pro, if you mean the main camera. You just miss out on some of the other ones.

He meant compared to the older model Pixel 7a.

[–] Vash63@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Right. And the regular 9 has the same main camera as the 9 Pro, thus my answer that it is definitely better than the 7a.

7a says 64mp and 9 says 50mp, I see the 9 has other additional sensors but i wondering why the cheaper a model has a better main sensor.

[–] Vash63@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

It does not have a better sensor. The 50mp sensor in the 9 is vastly superior to the 64mp sensor in the 7a.
