I see that WefWef says you can export your subscribed subreddits to it, but I don't get the option. Is it too late now, or can you use another service?

Thanks! For future reference - you have to be on the "Thank You" screen to bring up the right menu.

By shaking my device i get a menu which asks me to enter a secret word, not a menu to export

Thank you so much!

It used to be there before the API shut down at the top right corner of the settings screen. However, I don’t think it could possibly be functional now because it would require API calls to get a list of your subs. So it’s probably just gone now.

Just need to open Apollo, shake your iPhone, and the menu to export should show up. I did it yesterday

[–] rivhi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Oooh yes I just did it and this works. Nice! Never would have tried that myself

Apollo did have a local list of your subs and filters. It was able to save more filters than Reddit allowed. It was still accessible after Apollo’s API access was shut down.

Shake your device and the export option will appear. Make sure you are on the latest version.

Commenting because I also have this question, on IOS specifically

[–] bankercat3@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Open Apollo, shake your iPhone, and the menu should appear

[–] Dblock1111@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That worked! Thank you

What do you do if you deleted the app? Re-downloading it doesn’t let you log in, so exporting only provides me with r/apple and r/iPhone unfortunately!

Guessing I’ve missed my window and will have to build up my communities manually again?

Unfortunately I think so, unless you have some iCloud backup or other save (not sure if Apollo even does that)

Open Apollo, shake your iPhone, and then the menu should appear

Once I export the JSON file, how do I import it into wefwef?

[–] BluDood@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

They changed the process a bit, now you'll have to use Reddit's multireddit feature to generate the list. Make sure you're on the latest version, and just go to Settings > Migrate :)

Either way, not all subreddits are in the fediverse…

[–] bluemellophone@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I can’t find it either. My guess is Apollo can’t know what subreddits you subscribed to without checking with Reddit, which is not possible because Christian quite literally deleted the Apollo API credentials.

See this comment. I think that just exports some data that were saved before it got shut down, including subscribed subreddits
