Someone I knew called things like green beans "squeaky".

Hell.
…jk, but no idea. If that’s a thing I’d like to know too.
For those of us who grew up around chalk boards, it's "fingernails on a chalk board".
High friction surfaces essentially
Whatever this is called, I suffer from it. The squeaky sound of Styrofoam makes my eyes water and my mouth tense up to the point I can't speak.
Hmm I don't mind walking in snow but I know what your talking about. Especially with the green beans,it's kinda rubbery almost. No idea what it's called though. It's probably related to what ever the phobia/ism is that doesn't like the feeling/sound of nails on a chalk board. 🤔
Or grinding wool between your front teeth; every example so far has made me grimace.
I don't know but in all seriousness I'd suspect there is a German word for it.
Removing the cotton ball from the medicine jar.
I'm luckily immune to that feeling. My partner can't be in the same room as I do it. I'm also the designated "remover of objects from styrofoam packaging" person.
I couldn't find any to describe that specifically, but I remembered a word for the feeling when you're trying to brush your hair and some stick to the brush so they're getting pulled along, not necessarily ripped out though. "Ziepen"
“Rubbing styrofoam together”… are you making molotovs, comrade? I’ve found used motor oil works better than styrofoam.
lol no. I was eating a frozen welch's organic juice bar, and the consistency of the ice had developed that feeling, so I was trying to figure out how to communicate that, but couldn't figure out the term.
Sounds like misophonia for touch instead of sounds.
Chatgpt is really good at telling you the name of things by description
thanks for the idea! here's how it went:
User: what's the name of the sound styrofoam makes when rubbed together?
ChatGPT: The sound produced when styrofoam is rubbed together is commonly referred to as "squeaking" or "squealing." The friction between the styrofoam surfaces creates vibrations that result in this distinctive high-pitched sound.
User: what's the name of the feeling people get when repulsed by the squeak of styrofoam
ChatGPT: The feeling of repulsion or discomfort that some people experience in response to certain sounds, including the squeak of styrofoam, is known as misophonia. Misophonia is a condition characterized by a strong emotional or physiological response to specific sounds, often described as "trigger sounds." These trigger sounds can vary from person to person, but they typically elicit negative feelings, such as irritation, anxiety, or disgust.
