I feel like these are the sorts of things that have paid off in spades for getting a generation to view mcdonald's as safe and fun.

Probably a pain to clean, and I'd imagine that once they start to show signs of wear and tear they'd look worse than the generic seats do in the same worn down state.

All hail optimizing a few cents of saved cleaning time at the cost of (literal) character(s).
