The summer sale is well underway--what have you gotten that you're most excited about?

I know I'm late to the party, but for me it's Skyrim special edition. I played the base game when it came out on Xbox, but never since then. I'm looking forward to giving it a replay and all the new (to me) dlc.

I received Dave the Diver as a gift, it’s absolute fire.

It has the make money, go deeper, get better gear grind similar to games like motherlode, but then you run a sushi shop!?! Such a wild combination of video game systems baked into a complete package.

Highly recommend!

I bought this game in the sale because it reminded me of moonlighter, which I enjoy. It’s really cool, a fun and addicting game.

That came across my discovery queue and I thought the same thing--what an odd combination haha

I've gotten Star Wars Squadrons and Subnautica. Looking forward to trying both.

[–] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Nice picks! Squadrons is a lot of fun, especially if you can play in VR.

Subnautica is one of my favorite games ever! I wish I could erase that part of my brain and replay it again!

[–] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Squadrons played so well! I love that game!

I just finished subnautica like 2 weeks ago, really enjoyable atmospheric game. My only gripe is it got a bit resource gathering/grindy getting to the mid/ late game

Playing through it now. Emulated on yuzu, really enjoying it. I'm trying to craft the oculus at the moment

I feel terrible admitting it but I got Skyrim SE as I have been wanting to try out the Wildlander mod pack for quite awhile.

Don't feel too bad, I'm in the same boat. I've been needing to scratch my Bethesda itch. At least until Starfield comes out.

Just bought Disco Elysium. CRPG's have been my favorite game genre this past year. Disco Elysium is supposed to be one of the best CRPG's ever made. I am very excited!

I purchased "Wavetale" yesterday off the sale and ended up binge-playing it to completion. Super fun action platformer with great movement mechanics and a well done story. Highly recommend! I also purchased "A Hat in Time" and am looking forward to playing that one as well. I'm a sucker for a good collect-a-thon platformer.

Good to know. It'll be my first encounter with half life so I'm excited to jump into it.

If you liked JC2 you'll definitely like JC3!

I purchased Resonance of Fate after keeping it on my wishlist for years. The gameplay is absolutely amazing if you can figure out its combat system and enemy weaknesses. It's far from a normal RPG in that you still level up but your stats remain relatively the same, all the real stat modifications come from how well you customize your guns to increase damage, charge times, etc. It can be very difficult in that even basic enemies can bring you to the game over screen if you don't plan your moves correctly.

I picked up Vagrus: the Riven Realms and Roadwarden. Both "CYOA" primarily text RPGs. The writing in Vagrus in particular is amazing and drenched in lore.

[–] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I've never heard of Vagrus, but I'm a huge fan of post apocalyptic games. I'll have to give it a try.

Patch Quest, very fun so far. The mix of roguelite+metroidvania+monster collecting is interesting.

I bought Sons of the Forest and am pretty excited about playing it. Curious how the survival aspects of the game will play out!

[–] Kyoyeou@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I've got ULTRAKILL finally, and Idol Manager, two very different styles
