I'm gonna be a semi silent updooter

Be civil to one another
Fine with me, I'd rather have you here, looking at pretty pictures, enjoying yourself and being semi-silent than not at all.
Same
Congrats! Tbh, I didn't believe in the second wave that much because I thought that most of the caring users already switched but turns out that I was wrong and more people are actually joining which is very good. I can't wait to see for this platform to grow bigger.
The main driving force is the apps moving to lemmy.
Lots of people come over if you post or comment about Sync, Boost, Slide, Infinity, Connect (similar to relay) etc
wefwef.app and Memmy are very similar to Apollo already
Yeah the atrocity that is the Reddit app and their mobile website made me switch but the familiarity of wefwef app to Apollo made it much easier to stay !
I am so happy that there are alot of subs like Reddit. They did not listen so we moved!
Same here, but I'm seeing more and more engagement across the entire platform. It's really exciting watching things grow and I think as more people learn how to use Lemmy and they find communities they enjoy, we'll continue to see activity increase
Ditto, but I’ll be happy to be proven wrong, so I am making an effort to unlurk.
Apparently I should never underestimate the power of procrastination.
Had the same thoughts as you. In my mind people who cared about the issue (and not cared for the company’s response) had already taken action. There might be a second small wave now, but we might be looking at a long tail adoption. The important thing is that people find and stumble to content via search engines, and who knows when these engines will be crawling the fediverse…
I tried to come over before but there were obviously challenges. Now this setup is definitely more robust and better prepared for the influx of us refugees!
Yeah, subscribing isn’t intuitive. What I think may be a barrier is that there’s many instances that all connect to each other, but the general population might have problems wrapping their heads around that.
Hey diddly hi FMHY!
Just subscribed, looks like an awesome community
Glad to have you!
I fucks with space.
Hey I am new to this whole everything and I love it
New Lemmy user, chiming in.
Hi! Good to be here.
Count me in
My favorite sub, will be more active from now on.
Awesome good to have you!
Glad to be here!
Hey all 🙂👋 Totally new to all of this and from RIF, but the Fetaverse looks exiting!
Good to have you. There's some really good communities here and looks like most of the trolls are isolated to a few instances, or still on Reddit.
If you’re a lurker please post and comment so we can attract new members and build this into a bustling community.
I like space. It's big.
I also like pretty pictures.
I subscribed, good community.
Although I clicked half expecting something more literal.
I don't have any good sources for cutting edge stuff cause I usually get my space porn from communities like this in the first place (where are y'all getting your images?), but I shared some of the great older content I'm current using for my phone background and for art on my walls. They're very well known, though, so they're quite frankly reposts for today's lucky ten thousand (but I stand by that Exoplanet series being the best thing since sliced bread).
Honestly NASA astronomy photo of the day has hundreds of super high quality images archived so you can see them by date. I'm active on Flickr and astrobin so I see tons of images worthy of sharing on those. Imgur has a million as well.
Don't feel pressured to post if you don't want to, but if you come across anything worthy of sharing, it'd be awesome if you did
I frequent NASASpaceflight. I'm assuming anything launching is fine? How about like the Starship on the pad?
Only submit images related to space. This may include pictures of space, artwork of space, photoshopped images of space, simulations, artist’s depictions, satellite images of Earth, or other related images
Sure, as long as its space related and a direct link to an image, go for it.
Howdy doodily doo neighbouriinos.
Nice to have you!
Test comment. Hi all
Hi!
Just found you guys. Will continue to enjoy.
Awesome, glad to have you here
I love the concept and actual community content but I wish the community name would have been changed from the Reddit one. Not something I want to point my young kids at due to community name.
Yeah I can see that, but I named it that with the intention to allow people leaving reddit to find some familiar communities to feel welcome. I don't think it detracts anything from it being related to reddit in that regard.
And I also wanted to make sure that we keep it separated from other groups that are more wide topic, so it's just pictures here
I'd be more than happy to rename it something else if the general base would like to.
I agree, I'd be happy to drop all the old reddit-isms honestly
Yeah I totally get that. I'm sure there is also a small percentage of people that see the name and check out the community looking for aliens with three boobs or three dicks or dudes getting it on with living planets and find something very different.
ew no
Considering I've literally just nuked my Reddit account and all it's content(Thanks to Power Delete Suite), I'm going to be way more active in Kbin now!
EDIT: Missed a ) after the link
While I admire the sentiment, I don't think anyone should hesitate to visit reddit to steal content and post it here.
I say steal, but if you're reposting content from a site that reposts content from other social media, it's fair game.
Not against it, just decided to nuke my account as I no longer agree with it's TOS
And since I no longer agree with their TOS, I do not wish to be their user anymore, and do not wish to have my content in Reddit, so PDS showed to be a valuable tool for it
Was more of a personal decision than "everyone should do it"
Reminder to boost each other and not just up vote!
