@Communist @HiddenLayer5 I feel like we should establish license related metadata to activitypub posts, so a photo can be tagged with creative commons or whatever. The problem that the average person doesn't have the financial or legal strength against larger groups

But I hope there's some legal bull shit in the eula that lets Lemmy dmca them. Stealing from open source rubs me the wrong way.
I feel as if somehow claiming ownership of user content in the EULA in a way that would be DMCA enforceable would also be antithetical to the tenets of open source software.
They could write it in such a way that Lemmy doesn’t own the comments, but they can protect copyright on behalf of their users, unless the user opts out. But the Lemmy devs are too busy making the software to do this regardless. Guess we’ll just have to crowd source it.
Maybe we should get on it first and pump the income back into lemmy development and instance running costs.

Pretty much what Updoot Studios does. All their content is text to speech and I suspect they have a web scraper that auto-posts videos. All their videos are the top comments of the top posts on AskReddit. Wonder if they will be affected by the new API changes.
