Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

Yep, it's going steadily downhill. New bugs introduced, old ones unfixed.

I've moved to Liftoff for now, which is nice. As soon as Sync is available, I'll be there.

After the issues with 0.17 server support last week I've been swapping between Liftoff, Thunder and Connect for Lemmy. But Liftoff is the one I keep coming back too. I've seen people touting wefwef which is a progressive web app, but the fonts are tiny for my old eyes and I can't see anyway to adjust it.

on wefwef there is an icon for configurations where you can change font size (Settings -> appearance)

You're welcome!

Devs themselves said on github that jerboa is more a side project with how focused they are on lemmy itself

It'd be better to just drop it at this point and focus on Lemmy. It's causing people to get fustrated. The other apps are doing a much bettter job now.

Which one would you recommend for Android?

I used RiF for reddit. I've tried all lemmy apps and ended up with Liftoff. It has a nice UI, supports multiple accounts on multiple instances and is working stable. All that's missing for now is top 12 hours and top 6 hours.

I can recommend, for Android:

Connect

Liftoff

Thunder

I'm using all 3, plus Jerboa, as they are all fantastic apps. At some point I'll just stick with one, but it's exciting following the development of these apps. Use Obtainium to keep them up to date (although Connect is Google Play only).

I've had trouble logging in on liftoff, it doesn't recognize any of the instances I have accounts on.

I had to use my email rather than username, though I'm aware not all instances require one.

There's a comprehensive list of Lemmy apps being curated here.

My personal recommendation is https://wefwef.app.

I'm using Jerboa to submit this comment. Hopefully it's working for you now? Could be a phone-specific issue I suppose.

Another vouch for wefwef, it’s been my preferred app

I moved to liftoff and signed up for the sync newsletter. You can just download the liftoff APK and install without much hassle.

Or use Obtanium to get it!

@chloetse @jerboa I'm giving thunder and liftoff a try. Both seem much nicer right away

[–] TechieDamien@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago

I found that clearing cache and data fixed it for me but ymmv

This is the client I was using and it just won't start anymore. I'll try again later but guess I'll try another client in the meantime.

I've just downloaded Liftoff. It's pretty nice. And it works:) 😁

Just clear data and cache and it'll work

[–] Gevian@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

No it won't
