I assume anything coming out of a Musk company is a lie unless I see it with my own eyes. And then I see an optometrist.

Any one who submits content starting with “Tesla says”’nor “Musk says” should have a serious word with themselves

Meh, it's a tech story in this tech community.

What the fuck do you mean "autonomously"?

Like nobody gave it instructions, but its putting cars together anyway?

[–] perishthethought@lemm.ee 35 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The article quoted the tweet as saying, "Deployed two Optimus bots performing tasks in the factory autonomously.”

That could mean assembling cars, or maybe standing in one spot and "don't get in the way".

I'll believe this when I see it.

Walking around the factory, Spinning signs that say "we're going to take your jobs if you unionize"

[–] perishthethought@lemm.ee 7 points 2 weeks ago

Black Mirror called. They want you to write for their show.

A task could also be, carrying a box from point A to point B. Walk back, repeat.

It may do the job of a simple conveyor belt but actually, it's a multimillion-dollar AI-powered, um, robot,

The same way that Full Self Driving works: not at all.

Given their infamous quality issues, robot guessing at building a car sounds about right.

Hi, please to meet you. Can I get you anything, coffee, danish? No? Ok, please have a seat. Let me just say, based on your resume, you seem very qualified for the position. So let’s just get the standard questions out of the way. As an Optimus humanoid, what kind of value do you see bringing our company?

[–] FatTony@discuss.online 28 points 2 weeks ago

"An autonomous humanoid? Without prior experience, without any instructions, working entirely within your factory?"

"Yes."

"May we see it?"

"No."

[–] lisquid420@lemm.ee 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

sounds more likely than the robots tbh

[–] frog@beehaw.org 18 points 2 weeks ago

As many a person has said before when an outlandish and unproven claim is made: pics or it didn't happen.

[–] darkphotonstudio@beehaw.org 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

All the Tesla robots have advanced AI, i.e. will actually be controlled virtually by people in India.

[–] insufferableninja@lemdro.id 11 points 2 weeks ago

just like Amazon no-checkout grocery store!

[–] ByroTriz@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 weeks ago

Tesla can "claim" whatever they want. At this point, I'm not sure I'd believe it even if I saw it

[–] fubarx@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 weeks ago

They're propping each other up.

[–] n3m37h@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 2 weeks ago

Prolly just a guy dressed up again and dancing like there will be no tomorrow

[–] exanime@lemmy.today 11 points 2 weeks ago

So translating Musk to reality, they probably have 2 robotic arms working of a pre programmed algorithm that make them go back and forward

[–] DarkNightoftheSoul@mander.xyz 8 points 2 weeks ago

I claim the Isle of Wight.

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 4 points 2 weeks ago

I can just imagine the twisted version of Robbie (pdf warning) this might produce coming from Musk.
