Legacy media is only interested in whitewashing Israeli crimes.

the silence after this comment is called "tacit approval." See the problem, media?

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 65 points 5 months ago (4 children)

No shock here. A majority of the world is on a stance of “anything/anyone against the state of Israel is antisemitism”. This is such a false equivalency. Just because something/someone is against what the government of Israel, does not mean it/they are hateful towards the Jewish people. Hell, making such an equivalency is placing actually Jewish people in an unintended hate group.

[–] filister@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

Majority of the government in the West. I am sure if you start reading news from arabic media you will see a completely different story.

The problem is that international law is applied differently based on the country abusing it. And Israel is trying to shape the news perspective, by its bot army in English speaking of outlets and pushing hard a media campaign trying to discredit everyone who is not acting according to their interest.

Their foreign minister is posting some despicable videos and trying to link Spain and Hamas and claim that Spain is complicit in war crimes is nothing but despicable and shows the morale of all their government.

[–] Thedogspaw@midwest.social 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Its not just a false equivalence it's actually antisemitic most of these people are only pro israel because they think that israel is need for the final battle against Satan we love you because we need you to die lol

[–] logos@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

they think that israel is need for the final battle against Satan

Please explain?

[–] Two9A@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

As I understand it, the prophecy is that when the state of Israel is fully unified once more, and the temple of Solomon is rebuilt, Jesus will return and the second battle of Armageddon will commence.

End of the world, rapture of the believers into Heaven, the whole bit.

If I criticize the government of Venezuela it doesn’t mean I hate all Latinos.

[–] med@sh.itjust.works 34 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Let me introduce you to an interesting theory.

[–] polskilumalo@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 5 months ago

Inventing reality by Michael Parenti is also a great read

[–] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 27 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yeah but israel also burnt babies alive surely the media would be in shambles about tha...

[–] TargaryenTKE@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (3 children)

I fully believe you (and I can't believe I'm asking for this) but do you have a source?

[–] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

‘Bodies everywhere’: the horrors of Israel’s strike on a Rafah camp

He raced towards the sound, terrified for his wife, children and friends. A vision of hell lay ahead, so gruesome he started shaking from shock. “I saw bodies everywhere. Children burning. I saw heads without bodies, the injured running around in pain, some alive but trapped inside burning tents.”

[–] naturalgasbad@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 months ago

Dude there's videos online but they're obscenely graphic.

[–] KillingTimeItself@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I fully believe you (and I can’t believe I’m asking for this) but do you have a source

wait so, why would you believe someone and then ask for a source?

Why not just like, ask for a source? You can ask someone for a source while still believing them, you might just want more information for example.

[–] TargaryenTKE@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

1-Because I've had some people online get real defensive when I've asked for sources

2-Cause I was a few shots deep by that point so I just kinda say things

1-Because I’ve had some people online get real defensive when I’ve asked for sources

i mean i get it, but that should show someone elses character more than yours.

2-Cause I was a few shots deep by that point so I just kinda say things

fair enough honestly

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 5 months ago

Sounds about right. The Israel Lobby is fucking strong.

[–] shadearg@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

Joy Reid of MSNBC went on record yesterday saying she finally saw the actual beheaded ~~Israeli~~ Palestinian baby photos ~~from October 7th~~. ~~Is there anything substantiated with this?~~

I'll see if I can find the program and block.

Edit: Found it — The ReidOut - Podcast - May 28, 2024 @~28m23s

Edit 2: I got the context wrong. Thanks @Psychodelic@lemmy.world for the correction.

[–] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The substance is that she lied.

[–] shadearg@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

I think it's bullshit, too.

It's a bit strange for her to make a definitive statement this late. Why now?

Edit: Joy Reid was referring to Palestinian babies. I corrected my OP.

[–] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 13 points 5 months ago

There's no repercussions.

Almost all major western propaganda outlets claimed they saw photo and video evidence of rape. Something that we now know is a massive lie since the UN investigation showed there was zero evidence only oral testimonies.

[–] Psychodelic@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I just listened to this, it's actually a bit before your timestamp, but based on the context of the conversation there having, it seems like they're talking about actually seeing the dead Palestinian kids. When she says "them" it seems to me like she's saying we've now actually seen decapitated kids, whereas as before we only had hearsay

[–] shadearg@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Thanks, I'll re-listen and edit. I certainly don't want to cast an unwarranted aspergion.

Edit: You're absolutely correct, the dialog required careful attention. I'll fix my post.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Surely this baby will be the one that tips libs off that this may in fact be a genocide, right? Or do we have to wait for more for them to wake up?

[–] dch82@lemmy.zip 9 points 5 months ago

At this point, they’re just stuck in denial

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Where can I find the actual video of the decapitations? It looks like uploads might be taken down? Tons of tweets saying it's everywhere on the internet, but I don't use Twitter and I can't find any uploads.

man, it's almost like hyper politicized, hyper-narrative stories. Don't actually do much, or something.

Wondering how long it's going to take the media, and people to realize that war is just, bad. Wait until you guys find out what russia has done to their domestic population, as well as ethnic minority groups, and prisoners. Remember the sledge hammer video? Yeah, me too.

Says the "media"
