I just went to download it. All it is is a script that downloads Google Chrome Flatpak and adds a shortcut to Steam.
I've already done this with Heroic Launcher. And I have no interest in Chrome.
A place to discuss and support all things Steam Deck.
Replacement for r/steamdeck_linux.
As Lemmy doesn't have flairs yet, you can use these prefixes to indicate what type of post you have made, eg:

I haven't tried it, but I'm assuming the steam launch shortcut will have custom launch arguments to launch chrome as a full screen web app instead of the typical browser UI.
Works perfectly via HGL. Full screen and all. Same goes for Xbox Cloud.
Speaking of, what browser do you use for this? I have tried Vivaldi but even in its default “trust me bro, I’m Chrome” user agent it says it’s not supported. Firefox says it’s supported but I got no stream and in the end I despise less Edge compared to Chrome so that’s what I’m using…
Fuck Nvidia
Instead of improving their shitty cloud subscription BS, they should improve their drivers or just fully open source them so the community can work on it ffs
I agree, but I'm sure there are completely different teams for each and I appreciate this team choosing to support Linux more.
Nvidia supports Linux!
Truly a groundbreaking day.

Been a GeForce Now user since the Shield TV launch. It's a great thing to have when I don't want to drag a laptop or console around with me while traveling. $5 a month is absolutely worth it, especially considering it uses my existing libraries.
Isn't it 9$ a month?
I have a Founders account, it's $5. Not sure what the new customer tier prices are.
But, for the classic "cup of coffee a month" it's been worth keeping active since they moved to a paid model however many years ago. The first several years were free if you owned a shield TV.
Additionally, they still offer a 100% free tier to anybody.
I see, thanks
Can chromium be used at all or are there specific google components required?
As far as I know, you can probably use chromium. You'll have to set that up yourself though, or use a 3rd party tool.
I hate subscription services
I get that, but this is paying to basically rent someone else's gaming PC so it's somewhat understandable I think. Main problem I have with most subscription services now is they either are charging a subscription for something that should be a one time purchase, or they're raising their prices while offering lower selection/worse service.
I strongly disklike any subscription, but having to choose between paying for a high-end gaming rig that I rarely have the opportunity to use and paying 10$ or so for renting a cloud VM instance for the few months I get through a game, I choose the latter. Also, upgrading hardware is somebody else's problem.
Then don't subscribe?
