Yet another Met disaster/ failure. A knife frenzy against two black kids by six white men still hasn’t been solved. I’m in no position to say something like disband the Met but as a kid at the time who’s grown up watching this shit what do they expect us to draw from this? Everything’s fine?

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
The Met should be disbanded, though. Full reorganisation is the only way something this inept gets remedied. It's fully rotten from the inside. Changing names at the top doesn't address the deep systematic errors that make it unfit for purpose.
This is just another fuck up to add to the ever growing pile of fuck ups that the Met keeps producing, and they will keep piling up for years to come until something is done about it.
I don't think there's any answer that will actually work other than a complete reorganisation.
It’s hard to argue against it. With most services of this type you often have to hire the same bastards, the people who can do this job are quite specifically skilled and you want them on your side after all. Oversight doesn’t stop wronguns but it can hold people to standards and be accountable
