A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Random twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Low Hanging Fruit thread.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. These include Social media screenshots with a title punchline / no punchline, recent (after the start of the Ukraine War) reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Low effort thread instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

It's got some serious Engineer from TF2 vibes.

"And of that don't work, use more plane."

Bomber Mafia has entered the chat

HELL YEAH THE ARSENAL OF DEMOCRACY IS BACK BABY

This is how I felt playing StarCraft and just spamming the big carriers. Air superiority is also ground superiority.

Literally US doctrine since WWII. Germans whole strategy in the Battle of the Bulge was to attack while it was cloudy out, because if the sky was clear they were fucked. They got fucked as soon as the clouds cleared.

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

Honestly, they were already mostly fucked before hand since a lot of their armored units were either surrounded or all of the bridges along their intended routes were blown up. The air superiority just sealed their fates

The ground is generally found under the air, so when you have total air superiority, you actually just have total superiority.

You can't win a war from the air... but it makes it a whole lot fuckin' easier.

You’re right. Our Congress is an embarrassment.

What if I said we’ll do something about it, knowing full well that we won’t. Now do you believe I’m American?

[–] nuke@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You could always just give me control over everything

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

“Well, we” hold on “we may need to” I said hold on! “excuse me for a minute, would you?”

mumbles “Got it.”

“So the republicans would like to know how many Rubles you’ll pay.”

[–] nuke@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

I've already started nuking Moscow. I hope that answers your question 👍

Congress is the tiny foreskin on the extremely large shaft. Is that the non-credible enough for you?

[–] nuke@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Please go on about this extremely large shaft

I've watched a few WW2 docs some I hope I'm not confused.

But this one is really good and goes into the manufacturing and oil resource side of ww2. Which I think is horrifically undervalued in war documentaries

For your own sake get the British version not the American one. America narration is always over the top.

More powerful than a nuclear bomb nuke explosion sound This was the secret weapon that beat the Nazis Goose stepping sound effects.

Soon we’ll dive into the ultimate weapon that … won … the … war! war sounds “Without this critical development the Nazis would have conquered the planet lion roars What was this secret weapon that saved America from the Nazi war machine? dive bomber sound

Discovered in 600BC in China Samurai oooueee sound this invention would change the world once Uncle Sam got his hand on it and turned the tide against the Nazis. Cannons firing sound

“Yeah so we basically had more oil than them”

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yeah, it's pretty funny when you step back and go "Okay, sure, America produced more war material than literally the entire Axis put together twice over. But also the main oil producers of the time turned out to be America, the USSR, and Britain? They also had literally the world's entire rubber supply?"

Did-did-did-did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath the clear blue sky?
