Russia analyst on Al Jazeera talking about revolution
It's started by the military, so it's a coup, maybe a revolt. In my definition, a revolution is done by the people, not the military.
I think you're right but since large part of the people have been conscripted... Maybe you can call it a revolution as well?
I'd say it could lead to some kind of revolutionary movement, but for that it would be helpful if there was already some kind of organized resistance, which I think is not the case. It's definitely a test of Putin's power and will show how good repression and propaganda have been. I'm afraid it's been good and if there is a shift in power, it will just be new assholes with money and weapons, not a revolution. But we'll see, it's definitely interesting to watch.
If you're interested in resistance movements and when they're likely to succeed, here's a good start: https://fullspectrumresistance.org/

The wagner group and the guys behind it are supposedly even more radical than putin is - if they get in power, the war on Ukraine will get much, much bloodier very quickly.
It's kind of a grey area since Wagner are mercenaries and not traditional military, no?
Yeah, it's a private mercenary group. The security forces/Military police are set up all along the road to Moscow. So, the technical military is still with Putin, kinda. They literally just rolled up on that southern command, right after the head of the MoD fled the building. It's bizarre.
It's a civil revo-coup-tion!
(Also, I know very little about military stuff and even I can tell something big is going down.)
Not THE military. A private military company, rather. Closer would be if Blackwater (academi? Xe? Idk what their current name is) did it in the US.
I don't even know what a good term for it would be. Military coup usually means the country's own military.
No no, it's a Special Civil Operation!
now if only Kadyrov's tiktok brigade joins in and they all manage to kill each other, it'll be Christamas come early.
So, we have the Free Russian liberation group wandering around and taking random towns from Putin. Then we have part of Wagner literally rolling up to military headquarters in tanks, forcing the head to flee. Right now, AFAICT, they're cruising up the highway to Moscow, which is being carved up by trench diggers of the Russian army in anticipation of the convoy. Then there are statements by Kadyrov that seem to support Putin, making it a double coup (though I haven't seen anything between the Wagner subgroups).
I think this is a Civil Double Mu-terr-coup-tionary Attack (mutiny, terrorist attack, military coup, revolution). Fucking Wild.
Where can I read reports about the statements that Kadyrov had said?
Sorry for missing this. I basically posted and went to bed. I love when my sleep schedule makes me look like I'm spreading misinformation! Now it's all over the news, but I totally understand asking for a source at the time. Cheers.
It's okay, doc. Your sleep is important for your mental health. Keep up that momentum.
So this is an appeal to Wagner mercenaries to desert or to overthrow Prigozhin as leader of Wagner?
Very poor calculation from Putin. Guessing he's again listening to his yesmen.
That page seems slightly broken? I can't scroll down until I start the video and accept cookies, that doesn't seem right.
I posted it from the F24 app, that may be why. Here's a link to the browser version https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20230624-live-moscow-accuses-wagner-head-of-mutiny-he-says-his-forces-enter-russia
From the France24 link (thanks) "10:30am: Russia’s Putin briefed Belarus’ Lukashenko on situation in Russia" - I'm guessing that was just before his plane took off and headed for Türkiye!
The consensus ~~appears~~ seems to be that Lukashenko's family was on the plane. It's not clear whether he was on it or not.
How did my cheapo paint spraying machine start such a melee?
