Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

This was a feature that I fell in love with on Boost. I like to sort by top day and do short quick bursts of scrolling through the feed, so it helped a lot.

I'm not even sure if it's possible on lemmy, or if anyone else feels they'd get use from it as well.

That would really be useful, if I scrolled past a post the first time, I will also scroll past it every other time, I don't need to see it again.

If it doesn't exist: https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/issues You can create an Enhancement request.

Been wanting this ever since i tried Jerboa. It was my favorite thing about Boost.

Boost user here, yes please!

Workaround on Jerboa (maybe also other apps, haven't checked) - turn on "hide read posts" and simply upvote/downvote as you scroll. Upvoting/downvoting marks posts as read in Jerboa even if you haven't clicked in, so it's pretty effective.

It's a nice workaround for sure, but the only thing I don't like is that it auto-updates. If I click on a post and then go back to the list, the post is gone. I wish it only hid the post until I manually refreshed the page.

Not to hijack this, but is there any Lemmy app out there that does this currently?

[–] burgersc12@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

None that I have found. Been looking to replace Joey and its the only feature that I need in a Lemmy app.

Fellow joey user, love this feature and need it too

Mark as read while scrolling > hide read on re-open > (in case you need to re watch something) temporarly unhide read posts

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Jerboa doesn't even mark messages as read when you open them :P

[–] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It does it you reply though, so I guess we really want you to engage with the platform. ;)

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

"Sit yo ass down, you're not done reading until I SAY you're done reading!"

[–] sbv@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Sync has this and it's amazing

Or at least it would be nice to color differently posts that have already been seen. And when clicking on already-read posts only expand the new comments.

Is there a Way to Hide Posts from Feed that has been Marked Read ?

[–] Alpagu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I wrote a issue on githup for this. The developer has marked low as medium priority. But I think he Won't. https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/issues/836

Is that a dup of this one? That one is medium, so there's a chance. ;)

You can make a request to attract attention on github

[–] Bjoern_Tantau@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

That's not how Github works. You need exactly one issue for a request and can then upvote it. Otherwise the dev might get annoyed.
