A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Random twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Low Hanging Fruit thread.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. These include Social media screenshots with a title punchline / no punchline, recent (after the start of the Ukraine War) reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Low effort thread instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

This seems to be the picture of the chevron, or at least very similar to the one, but either there was no text or it was cropped:

Cheburashka in camouflage and with what looks like skiing glasses

Judging by the mood and the equipment looks, I would expect this to be originally airsoft, not military. I'm not an expert though, so do take my judgement with a stone of salt

Airsoft patches on airsoft plate carriers holding one airsoft plate scattered across the dirt of another land by jerry rigged grenades strapped to a kamikaze hobbyist drone.

How did Infinity Ward get modern warfare so wrong?

Real life tends to be stranger than fantasy sometimes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sometimes yes, for other times there are dinosaur x human romance novels on Amazon.

We never did get into area 51.

I'm just sayin...

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

That is more billionaire island territory. If you want alien x human, then Area 51 might be the place.

This is interesting, I found a Ukrainian version of this little guy as well. Makes sense since it was popular even in Soviet times.

The bottom text is a portmanteau of Cheburashka (you can look it up) and Terminator. Not sure about the other line

I can read some Cyrillic, fuck knows what it means. What I can see is:

ЛИВЬ...(Possibly a я here, hard to tell)

ЧЕВУРАТОР

Which roughly transliterates to

"Leave(ya?) Chyevooraitor"

That's probably not it exactly, I read Cyrillic better than I pronounce it. Russian has its roots in Greek, so there's sometimes some similarities to English/romantic language where Greek roots have been bastardized in, and there's also places where they've borrowed our words. I'm going to take a very, very wild guess and say that the top word is something to the effect of "liberator".

text in the bottom says "ЧЕБУРАТОР" or "Cheburator", it's a play on words, probably referring to Cheburashka, a character from an old popular soviet cartoon. The picture above the text is them in a military uniform (guy grew app and got fucking drafted i guess 💀)

(fun fact: the music in the video is from the cartoon) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheburashka

I have no idea what's the one on the top is supposed to mean, since the beginning of the word is cut off.
It ends with "ЛИВЫЙ", but even after viewing the original video i can't make out the first few characters.
mayyybe it's "(трус)ЛИВЬІЙ"? (which means cowardly), but ehh I'm not sure

Image search shows this as a more likely possibility:

polite (my ass) Cheburator

The hypocrisy level is epic, of course, not only using a character that is supposed to be friendly as a militant, but also calling an active militant "polite" 🤦‍♂️

Čeburaška was a character from a Soviet cartoon series, many of those soldiers grew up watching those.
