Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

DC is definitely not getting statehood under a trump administration

[–] st3ph3n@midwest.social 45 points 8 months ago

Nor under any other Republican administration. They'd never give up those additional house and senate seats, which would be very likely to go to the Democrats.

Easy for Trump to spin this as 'she's the candidate of the elites, not someone real America cares about'. If he even mentions it at all.

[–] hydrospanner@lemmy.world 16 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It might be, if he can remember who the hell she even is.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 5 points 8 months ago

She was responsible for security at the Capitol, right?

[–] squiblet@kbin.social 2 points 8 months ago

That was their quick response, of course. Washington DC is “the swamp” which I guess is why Swamp Baboon is so eager to go back there.

Should stoke her ego enough to keep going. Maybe she’ll do just enough damage to trump to keep him out of the White House.

[–] st3ph3n@midwest.social 36 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I think the slightest chance of Trump suddenly not being the candidate because of either his legal troubles or his shitty lifestyle are what’s keeping her going.

And the 2028 elections.

She isn't doing any damage to Trump. When will people figure out that he's an actual cult leader? His base is immune to criticism.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

His base isn’t where he would incur damage. It’s at the margins where she could make an impact.

[–] Sabata11792@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

A split vote can easily flip a state to the other side. Hope she stays in it.

Oh, the hamberdrs must be flyin’ at Mar-A-Lardo!

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 17 points 8 months ago (1 children)

He's yelling "pull!" and trying to hit them with ketchup bottles midair.

[–] gregorum@lemm.ee 8 points 8 months ago

Lmao, thank you so much for that mental image!

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I doubt this will swing the red hats. They want “outsiders” that Washington hates.

[–] FoxBJK@midwest.social 20 points 8 months ago

Nothing says “outsider” like having your portrait hanging in the White House!
