Congratulations to the KDE team. Looking like a great release.

The improvements to Wayland hype!

Hype for:

  • KDE 6 rolling out to distro's
  • Wayland as default
  • Waydroid Multi Window mode support

Due to it, we'll be able to use Android apps,
nicely integrated, alongside our Linux apps.

No more need to launch the full Android UI in a Wayland session window on X server.

I've been waiting for months for that!

Nice, I wasn't aware of the Waydroid support

Fedora 40 (KDE) branched has it. Working great.

Current final release scheduled for 16th April.

So if you want to try it out. Get the branched Fedora release. Note: Currently pre-beta by about a week. At own risk.

Also some good stuff with AMD support and Wayland too.

Any time you want to leap on early the Fedora branched release is available and with update policy that will become beta and then stable Fedora 40 automatically.

I currently run EndeavourOS with Plasma 5.27 (whatever the previous latest is) on X11. It works really really well, I have no issue with X11 as it works like a charm. Will I be forced to use wayland when upgrading to v6?

no, it's just changing the default from plasma (x11) to plasma (Wayland)
