Jellyfin * not plex, as far as I know

[–] fox@lemmy.fakecake.org 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

so it's an electron web app you could instead of in-browser web ui?

[–] spiritedpause@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 months ago

There’s a web app in addition to the electron desktop apps, you can find an example here: https://feishin.vercel.app/

Those aren't Spotify screenshots? I am very impressed.

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Thing is, Spotify's UI is one of the worst thing about Spotify..it's full of anti patterns, and the most simple things are always a Todd up.

[–] kernelle@0d.gs 4 points 8 months ago

Oh for sure, the UX is horrible, but I find the UI quite pretty. Could definitely use better playlist managegement, this could be the same interface more geared towards music managing.

[–] t0fr@lemmy.ca 3 points 8 months ago

I really wish it did not look like Spotify if I'm being honest.

Also, I think it's missing a button to shuffle a playlist? Instead of starting it from the first song. It's predecessor SonicXD had it, but it's missing here.

My client of choice! Nice!

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Usecase to the native Jellyfin web UI besides being pretty?

[–] fruitycoder@sh.itjust.works 10 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Hey being pretty is a valuable thing! I'm a pretty function over form guy myself but a more beautiful thing makes me want to use it more.

Heck I open krita sometimes because its a pretty app, and play with just a little

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 months ago

Sure. No problem with a prettier interface.
It's just that I like to know what sets it apart from the main offering and depending on the features I might prioritize it ;)

Supporting more advanced features like smart playlists and 'radios'.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 months ago

That sounds useful. One of my greater issues with listeningon my server.

[–] morethanevil@lemmy.fedifriends.social 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Great app, but no flatpak. Only appimage and the last update was last november.

Windowsize is always reset to a small window, on windows and Linux. Hope it will get an update soon

If you look at the commits, it's actively being worked on, but hasn't had a full release in a while. I still find that too slow personally due to my issues with it, so I've been using SuperSonic.

I will check out Supersonic. Thanks ☺️

Anyone with Navidrome should consider trying this. It provides a means to create & modify the smart playlists graphically & makes it easier to rate songs with stars vs the web UI

This looks badass. I do wish there were better mobile apps for a lot of these media servers. I’ve been mostly sticking to Plexamp for now cause of it.

[–] derin@lemmy.beru.co 2 points 8 months ago (3 children)

There are some great ones. Check out Tempo and Symfonium

[–] khorak@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 months ago

Symfonium is great, it supports a bunch of sources and works really well. Absolutely worth supporting the dev (check his ko-fi too)!

[–] LittleZaZa1@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I am very picky with my music player apps,b but symfonium is crazy good. And still get new features. Give it a try :)

[–] garrett@infosec.pub 0 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I don’t have an Android but thanks for the links regardless.

Finamp works on iOS. We just launched a beta on TestFlight. It still has a long way to go, but all the important features should be there!

Take a look: https://github.com/jmshrv/finamp
