the pc version didnt so i would be utterly suprised of the console versions did.

The PC version is a much older release. GameSpy was a thing when it came out, I don't think it's a good benchmark for how this upcoming rerelease is going to be.

GameSpy is patched out of the game now, and I'm pretty sure you can play over LAN regardless. Plus the games are available on GOG. If you don't want to put up with microtransaction nonsense in these games, there's for sure a route to avoid it.

the thing is, if they were going to make a "new" version, pc would have likely also got an announcement for a "new" version, which hasnt happened yet.

only reason why they would exclude pc is that it would have been a redundant addition

The xbox version of battlefront 2 runs great on a emulator on steam deck.

oooooh shit 32v32 is gonna be a beautiful mess in certain maps like Polis Massa or Tantive, I can't wait

This is low key one of my favourite multiplayer games ever so this revival out of nowhere has made me super happy

You love to see it.

This is awesome, II was probably my most played game of that generation. It's too bad they didn't add 4 player splitscreen from the Xbox version as that's how I spent most of my time with this, but I'm not going to complain about a good thing and it's great they didn't remove splitscreen entirely like way too many new or remastered games.

Realistically though I can't see many situations I'd be able to get 3 other friends in the same room to play splitscreen and on the off chance I do I still have my original Xbox and disc with 4 working controllers.

Oh man I can see me putting some hours into this on Steam Deck!

This is going to be really fun. I used to love playing these games. I heard it should have crossplay also.
