I find this whole story completely baffling. Do we think more details will come out later if/when any prosecution begins?

It's unfortunately one of those issues which is so burdened by attempts at political point-scoring that the actual truth of the whole affair might never really come to light.
It feels a bit disproportionate to have such a media frenzy over £600k compared to the £200 million PPE scandal - definitely someone has their thumb on the scales there.

I'd disagree, she's was arrested. Any former leader being arrested is going to be big news especially for something so serious. As for the amount, that shouldn't matter, if she's involved she should face the consequences.
The PPE scandal is completely separate. So far, Michelle Mone is being investigated and that was big news. Would be nice if more people were investigated but I suspect separating the fraud from incompetence and the dodgy contracts from the badly decided ones will be difficult.
There's plenty of Boris supporters that complain how much media attention and fuss was made over a few parties which is nothing in the grand scheme of things but he broke the rules he was setting and should be held accountable.
She was arrested just yesterday but the media circus about this has been going for months, if not years, so it’s not really anything to do with a party leader being arrested. It’s important that there’s an investigation and that any wrongdoing is handled appropriately of course. I’m not an SNP supporter by any stretch, it’s just such a boring news story but the press are obsessed with it for some reason.
Agreed that the whole partygate thing was total nonsense as well, it was a ridiculous media frenzy over something that wasn’t really important.
The UK media appears to have been reduced to tabloid journalism and it’s just really frustrating.
