I did the same, most of my signups are from it.
Nice!
I wouldn't be surprised if Reddit deleted such posts and then banned you for doing this. Although I am surprised they haven't reopened all of the subreddits themselves.
They probably don't have the human resource to cover all the modding required.
They will just post an open invite to regular users and they will become mid in the spot. I could see Reddit doing that
Yeah, maybe. And I guess some mods may go back, although you'd think many that participated in the blackout would stay out. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.
Yea. I like lemmy though. Has real potential
Definitely, I really like it. Exciting to see it grow :-)
Would not go well, dedicated mods that have experience , have a tough enough time, given all the pitfalls...
Throw some randos in and it will be interesting to watch how well they do, and for how long.
If it's a small enough sub with a tight knit community, they'd have to shut down the whole sub anyway
If the mods are gone, then large subreddits become a legal liability.
They wonβt waste their time managing the subs until they see who returns tomorrow
Tried it.
It might work with some subs, but the one I run solo just spammed the shit out of the requests.
Yeah i think ideally they could be locked down so no new posts or comments can be made, with a sticky like that. I've already googled some things, saw a reddit thread with info i wanted, but then it was private so i couldn't see it.
Yeah I think this would make the most sense, unless Reddit takes down these stickied posts.
