OK, I'm lying, I've only been upvoting.

But I click on something to upvote, the click registers, but then does not complete and the counter resets to what it was before I clicked.

I also notice very slow posting of things like this, or comments on existing posts. I've got a modern computer and gigabit fiber.

Just a growing pain when there are surges of users like this. Most of instances created with less than 100 in mind but got blown up due to reddit drama and ends up receiving more than 1000 new users and 10x more than anticipated posts/interaction. Nothing new here. Just like microblog-style part of fediverse (a.ka mastodon, pleroma, calckey, etc). The devs and admins will quickly solve the problem in the coming days/weeks.

This is great news actually. Reddit users are discovering alternatives and visiting Lemmy & the Fediverse.

Yes and no, it's great there are a lot of users, but it's bad that the slowness might stop them from using lemmy.

Oh I hope not, but you have a point there.

That's strange, I downvoted you and it worked perfectly. Just kidding I upvoted you really

@ruud is upgrading the server today, this should disappear shortly. Lemmy.world grew very quickly from <1k subscribers to > 12k in less than 4 days.

This happens to me when I'm using my browser (Firefox). Have to click the upvote a few times for it to persistently register.

[–] Jitterydork@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

If I may suggest to click it once and wait for it to register, Lemmy server will receive the request but it will take a little time to register due to server load. I suspect multiple clicks will toggle the upvote on and off.

Yes, it actually seems to work the first time even if it’s not displaying correctly.

Yes, that's sensible advice for impatient people like me. :-)
