Listen, strange birds alighting on keys is no basis is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical avian ceremony!

Is this the time to bring up bird law?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 14 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Help I’m being repressed.

[–] alp@lemmy.zip 6 points 8 months ago

Filibuster!

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@kbin.social 30 points 8 months ago

Ugh, now you have to randomly burst into song.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 24 points 8 months ago (2 children)

A Black-capped Chickadee! Nice.

[–] Zoboomafoo@slrpnk.net 9 points 8 months ago (3 children)

I do love a bird that yells its own name

[–] Branch_Ranch@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

🎶 "Chicka-dee-dee-dee"! 🎶 😃

[–] someguy7734206@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 months ago

When you think about it, the idea of Pokémon saying their own name isn't actually that unrealistic: a lot of animals are named after the sound they make. Peewees, warblers, howler monkeys, kookaburras, hummingbirds, and I believe the ancient Egyptian word for "cat" is "mau".

They really are irl pokemon

[–] johannesvanderwhales@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Could be a Carolina Chickadee depending on location.

100%. We got one of those AI camera bird feeders, and it mixes them up even though it knows where it physically is. There is very little overlap in range, but I'm sure climate change is changing that also.

[–] Aecosthedark@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Are those camera bird feeders worth the money? Would you buy one again if yours broke?

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Yes, but don't bother with the AI. My thought was I could filter out the field sparrows and house finches, but it didn't work out that way. The camera itself is 100% worth it though.

Thanks for the info! Learned something new today.

Yes and the princess is resting on your keys so better not to disturb her.

[–] ZOSTED@sh.itjust.works 15 points 8 months ago (3 children)

What are the odds of a bird landing on your keys on a day when your nails are in perfect order are unbelievable

[–] WoahWoah@lemmy.world 18 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (3 children)

Perfect order? They're like weirdly grown out and freaky looking. And no one would stage a photo with that dirty porch with random filthy carpet cuts as the backdrop.

True princess photo.

No it holds up. It's like cinderella or snow white at the beginning of the movie, where she's poor and wearing rags but has animal friends.

[–] ZOSTED@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 months ago

Oh I see it now. I'm just not used to them ever growing out before getting chipped or ruined somehow

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 1 points 8 months ago

Grown out? They look like they're glue on nails.

[–] atomicorange@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Are you implying OP and the chickadee are in cahoots?

[–] ZOSTED@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 months ago

I'm just saying there are legitimate questions here and the people deserve to know the truth

[–] PlzGivHugs@sh.itjust.works 13 points 8 months ago

Chickadees are suprisingly friendly - or maybe just stupid. It takes almost nothing to get them acclimated enough to you to land on you. I used to feed them sunflower seeds out of my hand.

[–] fahfahfahfah@lemmy.billiam.net 11 points 8 months ago

“Yo, got any bird seed?”

[–] mo_lave@reddthat.com 11 points 8 months ago
