Cons are that google gets more data and you rely on a third party that's notorious for changing up their service offerings on short notice.

Popular EU-compatible alternatives are Matomo and Plausible.

There's GoAccess, which simply reads your web server's log file. There's also countless other Open Source alternatives to Google Analytics.

What's the reasoning behind it?

The blog will be somewhat work related, and I think getting an idea of if my methods to advertise the blog are working would be nice.
