Hopefully this is the right place for a support request, because this is where the sidebar in Main directed me.

I've been noticing intermittent issues with posting in Sopuli.xyz communities over the past couple of weeks. Occasionally posts will sit with zero votes, comments, etc. for hours, which is unusual, especially for the popular Memes community (even a joke that flops would usually have some downvotes). It seems like these posts may eventually show up for people after many hours, because they'll suddenly start receiving votes and comments, but I can tell that something is off. Is there a known issue?

Example from today (1 person interacted with the post in 5+ hours):

Now that I think about it, I hope this post is visible.

I think the outgoing federation issue (#4288) is still a thing. I just switched to my lemm.ee account and cant find this post or the meme you posted.

Definitely there is a federation problem, despite Sopuli using the new version that should fix it. It may also be that the instances federating with Sopuli use a lower Lemmy version such as 0.18.5.

I have restarted Sopuli several times but I don't know whether it fixes any federation problems.

I think it’s not a sopuli.xyz exclusive problem, and it’s not necessarily because of other instances being out of date. lemm.ee is on 0.19 so that isnt the issue in this case

Interesting... I hadn't heard about this issue, but I'm glad it's on someone's radar. I'll just take a short break from posting here for a bit and try again later.

Comments and votes don't seem to federated properly either.

I guess time (and the sweat of the Admin) will fix it, but until then we can huddle up together and enjoy some local interactions.

Well somehow we're communicating between sopuli and startrek.website right now! Maybe it's intermittent, or it's just not federating everything.

For what it’s worth, I saw that post in memes, as well as this one (obviously).

Yeah, it finally started getting normal interactions hours later. It's like there's occasionally a long delay in visibility. It's similar to when I've seen federation issues on other instances before.

If I didn't post so much on Lemmy, I might not even notice when this happens, but it feels like something is off.

Yeah I'm aeeing the same issue. Posts on my community that I cant even see. I was shocked to see a post on !aneurysmposting@sopuli.xyz from an alt came back to thia account and didn't see it anywhere. So I posted on the same community from the alt and it was only showing on this account and the alt with 0 activity.

I also had it happen to one of my posts in that community. Although I'm now pretty sure it's not just Sopuli.xyz being affected.

Within the past hour, my inbox just got flooded with 50+ comments from lemm.ee from the past 4 days that I guess hadn't properly federated.

Yep I saw your post there but with unusually low interaction for the community. Although the recent post from literature.cafe seems to have federated fine. I domt understand this lol.

Speaking as a developer, Lemmy's codebase is frankly terrible, and the main dev is clearly either inexperienced or incompetent. It's no wonder there's a ton of persistent issues, and making huge releases every few months is only going to compound the problems.

Turns out tankies aren't too good at using their brains, who woulda thunk?
