I'm not much of a Minecraft player. But when I want to make some planks my crafting menu goes from oak to spruce to jungle to whatever... It's like I have to time the fucking thing.

Is there a way to make this stop happening? I want to make my planks out of a specific material to save another material. That's annoying. I'd prefer it just have all the options. And the right click menu doesn't help. It lists pictures with no useful tooltips.

What am I missing? Did I fuck up my installation by installing Optifine at some point in the past I don't even remember? Pretty sure it's v1.19.xx

Just.. is this expected or is it something I broke? If it's the former.. is there an extension to disable it?

Is this Vanilla Minecraft or are there mods? I remember a mod "NEI" doing this long time ago and you could stop the item cycling by pressing "Shift".

Alternatively (if it is NEI/JEI) I believe you can hover over an item with your mouse - wood logs in your case - and hit "u" , which will show you the items that can be crafted. Then just shift click the plus sign for planks. Another tip is to click "r" instead and it'll display the recipes that use the item

If it isn't NEI/JEI doing it, I unfortunately do not have any suggestions.

You can right click on it to get a little popup with all the available options. This way you don't have to play Guitar Hero for your spruce planks XD

Yeah I've tried to learn to live with it but I've just decided to make a mod to return it to the old menu

I'm not sure about the recipe book, but you could also just craft it manually

Yeah but I suck at the game lol

You can also just shove the wood type into the crafting area and it should just let you make the planks that way. (Only have one slot taken, can't have multiple stacks in it.) We understand the recipe book cycling for recipes that accept any wood type and give you the same thing, but not sure why it does that here. Guess they didn't account for it.
