I wouldn't mind if they were just symbolic.

But they have actualy political power. The Queen lobbies to change laws to her liking.

I thought that was explicitly against their constitution? Though, it's par for the course for legislation to not apply to the elite of the West, so...

They would have to be totally symbolic though. It's unconscionable that they have as much assets as they have and the amount of money the UK government has to pay to support them.

Yeah, I guess it is hard to seperate symbolic power from actual power. So I don't know if you could ever have a purely symbolic monarchy that can not possibly be unfairly advantaged by their position.

I would love for the monarchy to be abolished but this article is just weak speculation. Some guy thinks the monarchy is increasingly seen as celebrities [citation needed] and therefore it will be abolished in 2 generations? Just pulled this prediction completely out of their arse
