They pride themselves on being well-learned and good at debate, but then you actually make an effort to do so in good faith and they respond in mass downvotes and petty insults. I miss lemmy before reddit migration to be honest. There used to be a friendly community of people who could have interesting and civilized discussions. Now we have a bunch of these chuds running around flinging feces.
The technical term is 'disrupting the democratic space.' It's an innovative approach to democracy that builds on the Bidenist model, where you're morally required to rubber stamp one bad option or It's not democracy anymore.
