That was fascinating. I've always wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine and now I'm sold

Learning to use a sewing machine is mainly learning to thread it. After that it's following the line and learning control. The job is "sewing machine operator" after all. The actual magic of making things with a sewing machine all happens at the cutting table. People in the business call their workplace a cut/sew shop. (I have a cut/sew shop making marine canvas and upholstery.)

I once restored an old knitting machine, cast iron and stuff. That's even more of a marvel to me. How the machine plays with the tension of the yarn, just crazy.
