Modern phones lack in repairability, modularity, don't have sufficiently replaceable parts, and batteries and charging ports are very common points of failure. They have many proprietary components and spy on their users to serve more ads and report people to the police. Under socialism, phone designs should address these shortcomings.

Phones report people to the police? What????
The Hemisphere program is an example, where police surveilled call logs from phone service providers that went back decades. Stingray and dirtboxes can be used to track location of cell phones or gather identifying information of everyone who brought their phone to a protest or encourage your device to use a less secure, older protocol. Of course there's the NSA's mass surveillance program. And logs kept by cell towers can tell police when you connected to and disconnected from certain cell towers, providing information on your location. Service providers can also sell your location data to police or install spyware on your phone that activates your microphone even when you believe it's off. Spyware can also be installed if your phone has software on it with certain classes of security vulnerabilities. And of course if you post a photo or a video taken at an identifiable location on social media the police will be able to know that you were there.
We’re approaching Linux being a viable mobile OS, so my vote would be for that. I think it should be higher priority to begin producing computers without conflict minerals and slave labor, though.
But why? We already have android and Android is way more secure than Linux.
Communism no phone (in a good way)
No, no, communism is when no “iPhone”. Other phones are fine 👍🏾
Ideally it should be neither iOS or Android, but a free software OS not focused around ads. Parts should be modular and user-replaceable, like the Fairphone or the Framework laptop. It would cut down on e-waste caused by either damage or routine replacement. With modular components, you could upgrade the mainboard, storage, or camera after a few years without having to replace the whole phone. It's already possible with today's technology, just not good for profits.
Android is FOSS at least AOSP. Just dont package garbage with it.
It should be an another type of phone, maybe like Huawei, but anything accessible, customizable and usable for the daily lives of people, while bearing little cost beyond the phone purchase,... like the CPC's 100th anniversary phone... anything can do...
P.S I have a question myself, you kinda sound like a bot or fed... can you prove yourself to not be one and bring your thoughts to the table on what phone should be? I know I'm being a bit dickish but I still can't shake the feeling...
How am I a bot? I am just a newbie. I post other things besides questions 🤣. Also, I think it is normal for newbies to have lots of weird questions, or maybe I am just weird and tell myself that is normal to not feel sad about it 🥲
Edit: Is it because I don’t participate in the comments much? I just sometimes don’t feel that I am on the level of more seasoned MLs so I just like reading and learning.
I like iPhones because I am used to them and because they get constant updates, and their hardware last a long time. But, many people hate them so 🤷🏽♂️
Egh, you're fine... it's just that it's weird for me seeing some people with names like "Ultimate Communist" and "General" come in here, asking questions w/ out putting much on text. It just kinda feels weird but alright. Some people like "Cyber Ghost" eventually mellow out and adjust, ye know

A bit...

Good. The more you learn, the better

Yeah, I don't have much of an opinion on them, but I don't think I'd switch back, since I'm more used to Samsung or Xiaomi, which seem to have more features, are more advanced, and common in mu area
Then again, I'm more exposed to those phones than Apple, which I don't use much... and I'm not an expert... ask the people above...
lol, I cannot talk for these other people, but I don’t add more context because I just have the question in my head and no previous context in my head 🤣. I also feel that adding my own opinion might give me bias responses. So, I try to avoid it.
Edit: I didn’t comment more on the phones because I only had clunky Androids (very cheap ones that break in months) and high tier iPhones (Pro Max series) so far. So, I feel that my opinion on this is very bias and limited and that is why I wanted to hear the opinion of other comrades to gain more insight. It is not because I am a fed 🥲.
Does every newbie who gets posting happy gets into “possible fed” list or is that just me? 🤣
Does every newbie who gets posting happy gets into “possible fed”
Kinda, I think it's gotta do with the zeal of the convert... anyways, don't mind too much on what I said... you're cool...
Every residence gets a landline and wifi. The cellphone will be abolished. Once we have 3rd spaces and communities that aren't alienated due to capitalism, we can revert to previous, more traditional, means of social organization. Like calling the bar to ask if your friend is there.
