Yeah it's pretty much an all day thing, but it includes recreation and eating. There is also cram schools that a lot of students were using until they got cracked down on by the government. The contradiction is that higher education is selective and performance based as opportunities for it are harder to come by in a developing country, so it creates this very intense education system.

Yes. Many students, even at public schools, study until past 10 PM on campus

School usually starts at 8 AM ish. So when they wake up depends on their commute and breakfast and stuff
