I can't find their code book for 2023, however the one from 2022 notes:

"Final sample size - 3,544 completes from 27,591 lines of sample. 601 additional completes from an oversample of Black, Hispanic, and Asian respondents from the NORC AmeriSpeak® Panel from 2,396 lines of sample"

Small dataset that's not representative makes it feel gross.

What'd they do to get those numbers, clamp their survey size to affluent settler-americans only?

Slicing by the attributes they give, the two large factors that change the scale significantly are health and variations on predictors for wealth (income and education level)
