So it's like OpenStreetMap for companies? They state they're going to basically scrape OSM. Is this not just competitors trying to dunk on Google while doing EEE against efforts like OpenStreetMap?

it's managed by the linux foundation they aren't going to do that

There's at least a little reason to be weary. The Linux Foundation gets its money from corporations, including pretty much all of the canonical Big Tech companies.
