Hungary behaving like fascists again. I'm ashamed to be half hungarian.

EDIT: I was exaggerating when I said I was ashamed. I was just mad seeing the birthplace of my father in the news again doing shit like this. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I actually like hungarian culture, history, cuisine, etc.

It's not my place to tell you how you approach your Hungarian heritage, just want to let you know that while Hungary pushed through a kind of soft book ban where LGBTQ books must be foil wrapped in the bookstores - to protect the children - It backfired and the wrapped books are more popular than before

Source

Besides if the bigots pushing these laws are not ashamed of themselves, why should you be? You have as much right to mold the Hungarian identity as they do.

Edit:trying to add the source

That's definitely interesting. I'm glad to see the younger generations are fighting back.

Don't be ashamed of your (our) heritage. Orbán and his ilk wants that, to abandon our siblings in distress, and to create the perfect "christian conservative" (sic.) state without any flavor of social liberalism. Not to mention they have international friends, like CitizenGo, Putin, and the whole of the far-right MAGA team, so one must either fight or ignore it, either in Hungary or abroad.

As someone of German descent, I’ve found it helps to look at the people who fight for good. They’re always there, even when they’re a minority or lose

Also, we are not defined by the actions of those genetically similar to us, but by how we act in response to the situations we find ourselves in.

Hungary has a rich history, and if you wouldn’t shame someone for something in which they had no choice, why would you shame yourself? You’re fine.

Just to specify, the issue is with the Hannah Reyes Morales set (avert your gaze to the children bedazzled with shrapnel instead!)
