That seems unethical, no? Hope EU slaps them with some fines for this BS. Same with premium early access for gaming. Consumer rights are being stripped little by little.
Edit: help me out here. Why is this controversial? Maybe I should have said "premium early play" instead of "premium early access"?

a Google spokesperson confirmed that yes, benchmark apps were blocked on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro ahead of the public launch. The aim behind this was to “avoid” leaks, and it was Google’s intention to unblock these apps prior to general availability of its new devices.
