Unbound
Taking a quick look at the website it doesn't look like it falls in the same category as the 3 mentioned above
I use Rethink DNS because it also has a firewall function
Never mind, I'm an idiot. I use Adgiard DNS provider, and Rethink DNS client.
Lol ok yeah this makes sense now
Some people don't like that AdGuard is made by Russian's. I like NextDNS because it's simple to use and AdGuard was to heavy to install on my OpenWRT router. Never heard of Control D until now

That's a fair concern, tho. I use Yandex Search occasionally because it works better than other alternatives in my personal case. But if you care about privacy (duh, we're in /c/PrivacyGuides), using services provided buy US, Russia or China is not a good idea.

Bro
I bought Control D's black friday deal last year and can't really complain about their service. Also includes some nice blocklists. But their interface is a bit confusing and slow to use.
Mullvad DNS
Tried it a month or so ago but unfortunately had very high latency due to my geographical location
I do have TrackerConrrol + Nebulo, works like a charm
I used Pi-hole and AdGuard Home but they of course only work in your home LAN. So I switched to NextDNS and I'm happy (but not very happy) with it. Their DNS servers are fast and I can choose the blocklists to use myself. It also has a white- and blacklist. And the best part is that I don't need an app on my phone to use it.
The only thing that bugs me are (feature) updates. I've been using it for about a year now and I think nothing has changed this entire time. Also they still offer the Energized blocklists which are dead for over a year now. It feels like the devs don't care much about their product as long as it keeps running and people pay for it which is sad.

Yeah I noticed that too and it made me somewhat concerned about how things are going it the background, hopefully everything is good
Neither
Please elaborate
None of them respect your privacy, your own self-hosted DNS is the best.
None of them respect your privacy
Do you have anything to back up your claim sir as the 3 of them have a very good privacy policy (according to privacyspy.org and tosdr.org except for Control D which is yet to be evaluated by either of them) and are trusted and recommended by the community and trustworthy outlets like privacyguides.org
your own self-hosted DNS is the best
I wouldn't argue with that
They're literally all profit driven. How do you think they make money?
Of their paid plans/subscriptions?
My journey has been AdGuard - NextDNS - RethinkDNS. Haven't yet found something to move me on from Rethink. (All for mobile & tablet). Based upon simplicity, reliability and tools
I don't think RethinkDNS is comparable to these three, Isn't it something different?/Doesn't it fall in the same category as AdAway and Blockade (a firewall not a highly customizable DNS resolver) but if can achieve the same thing and is compatible wtih a wide range of devices (including routers) then why not let's compare them
Like NextDNS,there's a very good range of blocklists to choose from but the firewall part is easier to set up and play with. My use case is as the app on my mobile phone and tablet. You can use the DNS element alone as you would with NextDNS and specify that for other devices. It took me a while to definitely move from NextDNS to Rethink. I went back and forth a few times.
