From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Hey everyone,

I'm trying Linux on my laptop (Dell XPS 15 9500) but there is no sound from the subwoofers, which makes everything sound awful compared to windows. I've tried looking in the past, and made a Reddit post to no avail. (My original post on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/10zyrzv/no_subwoofer_sound_on_dell_xps_15_9500/)

The issue is that the audio driver for my laptop is not set-up to use the 4 speakers. For the 9520 this was fixed with one line in the driver file. But adapting that line to the 9500 didn't work.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Try filing a bug report with your distro or whatever project (wireplumber? alsa?) you think is responsible.

My dude, what line in what file? Have you confirmed that they use the same audio chipset?

Please provide more relevant information.
