Fuck everything about this.
Why? You can still click dislike and it does the same thing it did before (nothing)
It doesn't do nothing. It counts as interaction with the video and you get more stuff to dislike.
no it does something: https://feddit.de/post/4237/comment/12662
Care to elaborate? Seems like a sensible change unless you're in the business of selling dislikes.
Without dislikes you don't know if people just didn't like the video or if it was unsuccessful because of the algorithm. Views or likes alone aren't a clear answer.
You don't use views or likes. You go to the reach and engagement tab in your analytics where breaks it all down. Watch time is the most important stat and dislikes is not correlated to it. You could have your video have 80% dislikes but the best watch time of your channel and your video is fine to get recommended anywhere cause it's watch time is still fine.
I meant as a user. Now you have no way to know. A video could have many views because of advertising or being shown in a prominent place.
Afaik, the dislike count is still there, but private.
right-wingers have monopolized dislikes since the very beginning, a lot of "people" will be against this change
I feel like I'm seeing that effect here? I never noticed that lemmy broke out downvotes but here we are.
lemmy can be a really bigoted platform
