I know it's gotten worse, but imo 4chan went to shit in like 2015 after gamergate happened and every board started just kind of being a themed /pol/, so it's weird seeing someone nostalgic for that era

I'm just marking the point that the boards lost all semblance of being an actual community. I hadn't been using 4chan for years by the time HWNDU popped up. Discord just became the new 4chan socially imo. I'm saying that HWNDU is probably going to be the last 4chan bit that makes the website feel bigger than itself. There hasn't really been any major newsworthy 4chan trolls since then. If there was enough community there for one to happen after that, I'm sure we would have seen one by now.
